As a kid, I was definitely “Daddy’s little girl,” and I still feel the same way today! He’s such an important part of my life and I’m so lucky to have him around.
Letting Dad know how much he means to you can happen any time throughout the year, but there are a few moments where it’s the perfect time — Christmas, his birthday and of course, Father’s Day! And, by writing your feelings in a Father’s Day card, he’ll be able to cherish your heartfelt sentiments for years to come. But, what do you say in a Father’s Day card? Here are a few ideas to get you started:
Share a Memory
Whether it’s that time he took you to your first baseball game or a moment last year where your heart swelled when you saw him play with your children, think of a memory with him that you revisit time and time again and makes you feel proud to call him “Dad.”
List All the Good Qualities He Instilled in You
Did your father teach you the importance of being wise with your time and money? Or perhaps you learned the art of a well-timed joke by watching him. Remind him of why he should be proud to have raised you so well.
Tell a Joke
Speaking of well-timed jokes, show off your comedy chops in a blank card rather than buying a card with the punchline already written. “Dad jokes” and Father’s Day go hand-in-hand, and if he’s anything like my dad, the cornier the better!
Share What You Love About Him
His kind face, the way he always provided for your family, his hearty laugh, the way he gets so riled up watching golf on TV (and then inevitably falls asleep minutes later). Start with the things that come to mind off the top of your head and then dig a little deeper so it comes from the heart.
Whatever you end up saying in your Father’s Day card, keep in mind that “it’s the thought that counts.” As cliché as it is, it’s true, and he’s sure to appreciate the gesture. And as always, keep The Bradford Exchange in mind to find unique gifts he’s sure to love…and you might even find something special for yourself!
What do you love about your dad? How will you be spending Father’s Day this year? I’d love to hear from you in the comments!
